Towing Hudson County

Why a single dispatch desk works better for Hudson County towing than twelve separate town searches

Towing Hudson County NJ is a NJ towing services provider that takes towing Hudson County NJ calls from Bayonne up to North Bergen and west to Kearny on one line, (908) 666-3168, and sends the nearest flatbed or wheel-lift at the same printed booking fee, whichever of the twelve towns the car stopped in.

Hudson County crams about seven hundred thousand people into a strip of land you can drive end to end in half an hour on a clear night. Kennedy Boulevard alone passes through Bayonne, Jersey City, Union City, West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen. A car that dies on it can be a block from two town lines.

So searching towing Hudson County NJ town by town wastes time you do not have. Keep (908) 666-3168 in your phone for every Hudson County street, or book online and pay $129 instead of $149 for the booking fee.

01

Twelve municipalities, one person answering

Bayonne on its peninsula, Jersey City in the middle, Hoboken and Weehawken on the river, the four North Hudson towns on the Palisades, Secaucus in the marsh and Kearny, Harrison and East Newark across the Hackensack. The same dispatcher answers for every one of them. You only need to tell her the street and the nearest corner.

02

Straight answers about distance

Our yard is in Linden, across Newark Bay. That puts Bayonne and Kearny about 25 minutes away, Jersey City about 28, Hoboken about 32 and the North Hudson towns between 36 and 40. When a truck is already on the Extension or working in Jersey City, the window drops, and she tells you which case applies.

03

Trucks sized for Hudson streets

Brownstone blocks in Hoboken and the Heights, parking decks under high-rises, warehouse docks in Secaucus and Kearny. We send a wheel-lift where the curb is tight, a low-angle flatbed where the car is AWD or sits in a garage, and a heavy truck for the freight side of the county.

04

One fee on every receipt

A Guttenberg tow and a Greenville tow start from the same booking fee. Mileage is counted from the car, not from Linden, and it is read to you before anyone rolls. Jump starts, tire swaps, lockouts and fuel runs are one flat price in any Hudson County town.

Save one number for the whole county. The dispatcher asks the town only to find the closest truck.

The county from the dispatch desk

How Hudson County reads on our dispatch board: a peninsula, a ridge, a marsh and three ways in from Linden

From the desk, Hudson County is a long ridge running north from Bayonne to North Bergen with the Hudson waterfront below it and the Meadowlands to its west, reached from Linden by the Turnpike Extension into Bayonne and Jersey City, by Routes 1 & 9 and the Pulaski Skyway, or by the Turnpike toward Kearny and Secaucus.

Hudson drivers describe breakdowns by landmark, not by township. Dead at the Journal Square lights, flat on the Route 440 bridge side of Bayonne, stalled on Tonnelle near the Route 495 overpass. The board works the same way, and the geography decides which road the truck takes.

Here is how the county splits from the dispatcher's point of view, and why a truck is often closer than the yard.

The south: Bayonne and Jersey City off the Extension

The Newark Bay Extension of the Turnpike runs straight from our side of the bay into Bayonne at Exit 14A and Jersey City at 14B and 14C. That is why Bayonne sits around 25 minutes out and Jersey City around 28. Trucks spend a lot of the day on this stretch, so a call here often gets a truck that is already rolling nearby.

The river and the ridge: Hoboken, Weehawken and North Hudson

Hoboken sits under the cliff, Weehawken holds the Lincoln Tunnel, and Union City, West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen line the top of the Palisades along Kennedy Boulevard and Bergenline Avenue. These are the longest runs, 32 minutes to Hoboken and up to 40 for the north end. Honest windows matter most here.

The west: Secaucus and the Kearny side

Kearny, Harrison and East Newark sit across the Hackensack, reached by the Turnpike, Truck 1 & 9 and I-280, about 24 to 25 minutes from Linden. Secaucus, surrounded by the Meadowlands, is about 30 minutes out by the Turnpike or Route 3. Warehouse and freight calls cluster on both sides.

Wherever the car sits, one desk takes the call and one fleet sends the truck. The only thing that changes from Bayonne to North Bergen is the route the driver picks and how long it honestly takes.

Give the street and the corner. The dispatcher works out the part of the county and the fastest way in.

Emergency towing

Emergency towing across Hudson County, from the Route 440 bridges to the Tonnelle Avenue lights

In a Hudson County emergency the dispatcher first gets you off the travel lane or behind a barrier, then sends whichever company truck is nearest, often one already in Jersey City or on the Extension, at the same $149 booking fee as any planned tow.

Hudson County has almost no shoulders. Most crashes and breakdowns happen in live traffic on avenues with bus stops, double-parked delivery vans and cars inches from each other. The first job is keeping you safe until the truck arrives.

Tell the dispatcher three things: the street, the direction you were heading, and the nearest business or light-rail stop.

01

Route 440 through Bayonne and the Jersey City west side

Route 440 carries shoppers, port traffic and commuters past the big retail strips on the Bayonne and Jersey City edge of Newark Bay. Rear-end crashes at its lights are common. After police clear you, tell the officer your own tow is coming, and our flatbed takes the car to the body shop you name.

02

Tonnelle Avenue and Routes 1 & 9 in North Bergen and Jersey City

Tonnelle is a truck route with narrow lanes, tight turns into lots and heavy freight traffic heading for the Meadowlands. A car that stops there needs to get into a lot entrance if it can. If not, stay out of it on the curb side while the truck arrives with lights running.

03

Stalls near the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels

Inside the tunnels and on the Route 495 helix, Port Authority crews clear stalled cars to the nearest safe spot. Once the car is off their ground, on a Jersey City or Weehawken street, our truck takes it from there. Tell the dispatcher where they left it.

04

The Turnpike and the Extension through the county

The Extension enters at Bayonne and ends at the Holland Tunnel approach, and the main Turnpike runs past Kearny and Secaucus. Local streets at every exit are direct dispatch for us. On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.

Say emergency and the closest truck is assigned before you hang up. The fee does not change.

What we tow

Every towing and roadside job we run in Hudson County, from Hoboken garages to Secaucus loading docks

In Hudson County we run local and emergency tows, flatbed loads out of parking garages, accident recovery, freight and heavy-duty work in the Meadowlands and Kearny industrial areas, motorcycle and long-distance moves, winch-outs, and the four roadside fixes that often mean no tow at all.

Town-to-town towing

A dead sedan in West New York to a Union City mechanic, a Hoboken car to a dealer on Route 440. Crossing a Hudson County town line is just a few miles on the quote.

Emergency towing

A lane blocked on Kennedy Boulevard, a crash at a Route 440 light, a car stopped on the Truck 1 & 9 bridges. The nearest truck on the board is sent while you are still talking.

Garage and flatbed towing

Hudson County cars live in decks under towers in Newport, Harborside and Port Imperial. Low-clearance levels, AWD and EVs go on a flatbed with every wheel on the deck.

Accident towing

Pulled from a Journal Square intersection or a Paterson Plank Road curve, photographed for the adjuster, and taken to the body shop you chose instead of a daily-rate lot.

Freight and fleet work

Box trucks at Secaucus warehouses, tractors near Kearny Point, delivery vans all over Jersey City. Medium and heavy-duty trucks from the same fleet, billed monthly for accounts.

Jump, tire, lockout, fuel

One flat price each with no mileage. Hoboken Terminal commuter lots, the Secaucus outlet rows, a Bayonne driveway, a Harrison stadium lot after a match.

Winch out and recovery

Wheels off the pavement along the Hackensack in Secaucus, stuck in a flooded Hoboken low spot, hung on a curb in the Heights. Back on the road, and if it drives, that ends it.

Long distance towing

From any Hudson County town to the shore, Pennsylvania, New England or a buyer several states away. One flatbed, one number up front, tolls included.

Details on the bigger jobs: emergency towing, flatbed towing, accident towing, heavy duty towing and roadside assistance. Describe what the car is doing and the dispatcher picks the truck; you do not have to.

Not sure it needs a tow? Tell us the symptoms. The cheaper fix is always sent first.

Hudson County areas

Hudson County towing broken into the six parts of the county our trucks work

The fee, the dispatcher and the fleet do not change across the six parts of Hudson County; what changes is how the truck gets in from Linden, how long that honestly takes, and whether the typical call there is a garage extraction, a tunnel-approach stall, a Bergenline double-park or a warehouse truck.

Six pages, each covering a group of towns or districts that share the same roads. Open the one that holds your street for the local detail, or just call; it is the same number.

All six parts, plus the counties next door, are laid out on the service-area page.

Hudson County roads

The Hudson County roads that fill our board: Route 440, Route 139, Tonnelle, Route 3, the Skyway and the Extension

Route 440, Route 139, Routes 1 & 9 and Tonnelle Avenue, Route 3, Route 7, Kennedy Boulevard and every town street in Hudson County are direct dispatch for our trucks; on the Turnpike and its Newark Bay Extension the authorized garages clear the shoulder, and inside the tunnels the Port Authority does, and we pick the car up once it is off.

Route 440 from Bayonne to Jersey City's west side

Route 440 hugs Newark Bay from the Bayonne Bridge approach up past the Bayonne and Jersey City retail strips to the Routes 1 & 9 junction. Lights, left turns into plazas and heavy truck traffic from the port. Tell the dispatcher which side of the road you are on and the nearest store.

I-78 and Route 139 to the Holland Tunnel

The Extension ends in downtown Jersey City at Exit 14C, and Route 139 carries traffic from the Journal Square side down to the tunnel along 12th and 14th Streets. Backups here are constant. Streets around the approach are ours; the tunnel itself is Port Authority ground.

Tonnelle Avenue, Routes 1 & 9, from Jersey City to North Bergen

Tonnelle runs along the foot of the ridge through Jersey City and North Bergen with freight yards, big-box stores and fueling stations. It is a truck route with little room to stop. If you can roll into a lot, do it before calling.

Route 3 and Paterson Plank Road through Secaucus and North Bergen

Route 3 cuts through the Meadowlands between the Lincoln Tunnel side and the Turnpike at Exit 16W, and Paterson Plank Road crosses the same marsh at street level. Merges are short and fast. The local roads around Harmon Meadow and the outlets are direct dispatch.

The Pulaski Skyway, Truck 1 & 9 and I-280 on the Kearny side

The Skyway and the truck route under it cross South Kearny between Newark and Jersey City, and I-280 ends at the Turnpike in Kearny after passing Harrison. The Skyway has no shoulder at all. If you stop there, stay in the car with the belt on and hazards flashing, call 911 first, then us.

The NJ Turnpike and the Newark Bay Extension

The Extension enters Bayonne at 14A and reaches Jersey City at 14B and 14C, and the Turnpike passes Kearny at 15E and 15W and Secaucus at 16E and 17. Every ramp end and local street at those exits is ours.

Stopped on one of these roads now? Get clear of traffic first, then call. The dispatcher tells you where to wait.

Towing cost

What towing costs in Hudson County: one booking fee in all twelve towns, mileage stated up front

A tow anywhere in Hudson County books at $149 by phone or $129 online, plus mileage from where the car sits to where it is going, read to you before a truck moves; roadside jobs are one flat price each, and the town, hour and day change none of it.

Hudson County is across the bay from our yard, and some companies would bill you for that drive. We do not. The mileage line starts at your car.

A Hoboken car going to a Hoboken shop has a short mileage line even though Hoboken is 32 minutes from Linden. A Bayonne car heading to a dealer in Secaucus is a longer line, and you hear it before anyone commits.

What moves the total

Where the car is going: a garage around the corner is a mile or two, a dealer across the county is more, and another state is a long-distance quote. What the car is: AWD and EVs ride a flatbed, and box trucks or tractors need a heavier truck.

Where it sits: a car at the curb loads in minutes, while one on the lowest level of a tight deck, locked in park or wrecked may need dollies, skates or winching, all priced before the driver starts.

02

What you will never see on the bill

No charge for being in Hudson County rather than Union County. No late-night, weekend or holiday premium, and no fuel surcharge on the miles.

No charge for a passenger riding along. No storage or release fee, since there is no lot and the car goes where you told us.

Every line is on the prices page.

Ask for the total before anything moves. Free, the same in every Hudson County town, and the same at 3 a.m.

What happens when you call

A Hudson County tow from the first ring to the drop-off, in four steps

The dispatcher takes the street, the car and the destination, quotes one total and says honestly how far away the nearest truck is, the driver calls on approach and photographs the car, and it is delivered where you chose with an itemized receipt.

  1. 1

Give the street and the corner

Call (908) 666-3168, or book online for $129. In Hudson County the corner matters more than the town; a garage level or a light-rail stop helps too. She also asks what the car is, what happened and where it should go.

  2. 2

Hear the price and the window

She adds the booking fee to the mileage and any garage or recovery work, then reads one total. She also tells you whether the truck is coming from the yard, about 25 to 40 minutes depending on the town, or from a job already in the county. If a jump or a spare would fix it, she sends that instead.

  3. 3

    The truck finds you

The driver calls when he is on his way and again when he turns onto your block. On a busy avenue, stay on the sidewalk. In a garage, meet him at the entrance so he can check the clearance before he drives in.

  4. 4

    Photos, load, drop-off, receipt

The car is photographed before loading and again at delivery, and you can ride in the cab. You get an itemized receipt at the destination, printed or emailed, laid out the way insurers and roadside plans want it.

Same four steps whether you call from a Bayonne side street or a Secaucus loading dock.

FAQ

What Hudson County drivers ask before calling a county-wide tow

In short: all twelve Hudson County towns are covered, trucks come from Linden and are often already nearby, the price does not depend on the town, the mileage is read first, tunnels and the Turnpike follow their own rules, and no membership is needed.

Which Hudson County towns do you actually cover?

All twelve: Bayonne, East Newark, Guttenberg, Harrison, Hoboken, Jersey City, Kearny, North Bergen, Secaucus, Union City, Weehawken and West New York. Every one of them reaches the same dispatcher at (908) 666-3168.

Your trucks come from Linden. How long until one reaches me in Hudson County?

From the yard it is about 25 minutes to Bayonne, 24 to 25 to Kearny and Harrison, 28 to Jersey City, 30 to Secaucus, 32 to Hoboken and 36 to 40 to Union City, West New York and North Bergen. If a truck is already on the Extension or working in Jersey City, it is usually sooner, and the dispatcher tells you which.

Does North Bergen or Guttenberg pay more because it is the far end of the county?

No. The booking fee is the same in every Hudson County town, and mileage runs from your car to the destination, not from Linden. A Guttenberg car headed to a West New York shop has a very short mileage line.

What does a tow cost in Hudson County?

$149 to book by phone or $129 online, covering the truck reaching you and the hook-up, plus mileage to where the car is going, spoken before dispatch. Roadside jobs are one flat price each. The prices page has every line.

My car is on a low level of a parking garage in Jersey City. Can you get it out?

Usually, yes. Tell the dispatcher the garage, the level and the posted clearance so she sends a low-profile truck or plans to roll the car to the entrance on dollies. Any garage work is priced before the driver goes in.

I broke down in the Holland Tunnel. Can you come get me?

Not inside the tube. The Port Authority clears stalled cars from the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels and the Route 495 helix. Once they drop the car on a Jersey City or Weehawken street, call us with the spot and we take it wherever you want.

What if I stall on the Turnpike Extension near Bayonne or Jersey City?

On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price. The Extension counts as Turnpike, so this applies from Exit 14A to 14C.

Can you tow a car parked on a permit-only street in Hoboken or the Heights?

Yes, as long as you own it or have the owner's permission. A wheel-lift loads from a tight curb quickly, and the driver can put a boxed-in car on skates to slide it out without touching the cars around it.

Question not listed? Ask the dispatcher. Someone in Hudson County probably asked it this week.

Towing near me

Searching "towing near me" in Hudson County? Here is how near our trucks actually are

Near me in Hudson County means the company truck closest to you on the board at that moment, often one already in Jersey City or on the Extension, and the dispatcher gives you a real window from that truck, not a hopeful guess.

A "towing near me" search on a Hudson County street pulls up listings from New York, Bergen, Essex and a dozen call centers. The question worth asking is who has a truck on this side of the river right now.

Here is roughly how close ours tend to be, part by part.

01

Near Bayonne, Kearny, Harrison and East Newark

The closest parts of the county to Linden, about 24 to 25 minutes on the Extension or the Turnpike. Trucks crossing into Hudson pass these towns first, so one is often even closer.

02

Near Jersey City

About 28 minutes from the yard to Exit 14B or 14C. Jersey City is where our trucks work most in the county, so a truck finishing a job a few blocks away is common.

03

Near Secaucus and Hoboken

Around 30 minutes to Secaucus by the Turnpike and 32 to Hoboken through downtown Jersey City. The dispatcher checks whether a truck is already north of Journal Square before she quotes.

04

Near Union City, West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen

The top of the ridge is the far end, 36 to 40 minutes from Linden, and we say so. A truck already on Tonnelle or Kennedy Boulevard often gets there sooner.

Ask how far the nearest truck is. The dispatcher can see it and gives you the real number.

Hudson County towing

Why Hudson County drivers keep one towing number instead of searching town by town

Because Hudson County is twelve towns squeezed onto a narrow strip between the Hackensack and the Hudson, a breakdown on Kennedy Boulevard can sit in three municipalities within a mile, and one desk at {{phone}} that works all of them sends a truck without anyone arguing over town lines.

The Linden yard sits across Newark Bay, about 25 minutes from Bayonne and Kearny and closer to 40 from the North Hudson towns, and we say so on the call. A truck finishing a job in Jersey City or rolling on the Extension often beats that. Book online and the fee is $129 instead of $149; the service area breaks the county into six parts, and the prices page lists every charge we are allowed to make.
